The Union Butterfield 1528(UNC)/1528(UNF)/1528(UNS) uncoated, high-speed steel hand threading tap has straight flutes and a round shank with a square end, and is used to create machine-screw sized right-hand threads in a range of materials. It is available in three different ANSI thread specification standards: UNC (Unified Coarse), UNF (Unified Fine), or UNS (Unified Special). The straight flutes are suitable for threading through holes (extending through the workpiece) and blind or bottoming holes (with only one opening). Machine-screw sizes are used frequently in many industries and products.

Right-hand threads are designed to tighten when the head or nut is rotated clockwise (the most common threading direction). High-speed steel (HSS) is a common general-purpose steel for cutting tools and is compatible with a variety of materials. With no coating or surface treatment, this uncoated tool can be used on a broad range of materials and provides an economical alternative to coated tools. The round shank with square end makes it suitable for hand or power-driven applications. This tool can be used in machines, such as drill presses or lathes, or with hand tools such as tap wrenches.

In the Union Butterfield 1528(UNC) series, taps that are machine-screw size 1 have two flutes; sizes 2 through 6 are available in two or three flutes; sizes 8 and 10 are available with two, three, or four flutes; and size 12 has 4 flutes. In the 1528(UNF) series, taps that are sizes 0 and 1 have two flutes; sizes 2, 3, and 4 have three flutes; sizes 5 and 6 are available in two and three flutes; size 8 has four flutes; size 10 is available in two, three, and four flutes; and size 12 has four flutes. UB 1528(UNS) taps are available in size 4, with three flutes. Taps in these series are available with a variety of chamfers. This tap conforms to ANSI standards and can create threads to a depth 1 ½ times its diameter. It is suitable for ANSI 2B and 3B tolerance classes: 2B is an average quality fit for commercial and industrial fasteners; 3B produces close-tolerance fasteners that resist loosening, as in aerospace applications.

Taps produce internal threads in previously formed holes and can be used in machines (such as drill presses) or with hand tools. Common types of taps include hand taps, spiral point taps, spiral flute taps, thread forming taps, and pipe taps. Hand taps (straight-flute taps) collect chips in the straight flutes of the tool; spiral point taps push chips through holes ahead of the tool; and spiral flute taps pull chips back from the tip of the tool, up and out the hole. Thread forming taps, also known as cold forming taps, press rather than cut to create threads in a drilled hole, and no chips are created. Pipe taps create threads in pipes and pipe fittings. Each thread type designates a thread profile and each type is identified with an abbreviation. In the U.S. and Canada, the Unified Thread Standard is the dominant thread type, including UNC (Unified Coarse), UNF (Unified Fine), and NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads, among others.

This tubing was designed specifically for peristaltic pump applications and has a pump life over 500 hours. It is extremely flexible and exhibits superior flex life, reducing downtime due to tubing failure. Tygoprene can also be used as a substitute to silicone and PVC where longer pump life is required. Tygoprene tubing is translucent and has excellent chemical resistance to a wide range of fluids including acids and bases. This tubing remains flexible at -40 F and is temperature resistant to 250 F. Tygoprene pump tubing complies with FDA CFR 2:1,177.12:10 criteria for food contact applications; is NSF listed under standard 51 and has also passed the UL 94-HB flammability resistance classification. Tygoprene tubing has low extractable making it ideal for applications like ink transfer, soap and detergent delivery. It also does not impart taste to fluids making it an excellent choice for cold or hot beverage delivery and food transfer. It is also used for general chemical transfer and laboratory applications requiring long pump life and/or low extractable.

Component Flat Washers are named for their original popularity as a component of a jig or fixture, where a thicker washer was needed for the extra strength and load distribution properties that accompany the extra thickness. Our Component Washers are available from #4 screw size all the way thru 1-1/2" Bolt sizes. All Component Washers are thicker than any standard washer in general use. We provide two lines from stock - Thick and Extra Thick. Smaller diameters have a 5/64" thickness, going all the way up to 3/8" thickness, with the 1/8" thick line being the most popular. These washers are either stamped on power presses or turned on our lathes depending on the quantities we manufacture, and the wall thickness of the washer, which is the relationship between the thickness and the Inner Diameter dimension. All of these are suitable for use anywhere extra strength is needed. Brass material offers excellent corrosion resistance, are non magnetic, soft, and are an attractive gold color.

Made in the USA. These flat washers are produced in the USA for excellent quality conformance. One of the significant differences between less expensive imported products and ours are the way we stamp. Many cheap imports are produced on gang dies that produce 10 or more washers per stroke of the press. Using such a large die means that the individual washer sets are not adjustable - when the punch wears, the dimensions change and there is no way to fix this as the press produces washers, leading to a large variation in the finished part.

Materials available in many other countries are not as consistent as the domestic steels we use, which gives the imports a cheaper cost, but can lead to failures and inconsistencies when the products are used. The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) was created to address this problem. Our materials are DFARS compliant although we do not supply the certification except on special order.

On January 24, 1923 P.J. Swanson and Chas. T. Lyons formed the Tire Mat and Bi-Products Company, Inc. to capitalize on the patent filed by P.J. Swanson for the invention of the tire-link mat. In July of 1924, Chas. T. Lyons, H.W. Bell and Howard R. Lyons formed a successor company called Durable Mat Company, Inc. and were shortly joined by C.L. Morris and Falcon Joslin, whom jointly comprised the management team that would established what is today Durable Corporation. The Stop-N-Dry is a polyester carpet mat is extremely strong and durable. Fibers are resistant to most chemicals, stretching and shrinking. It is also wrinkle, mildew and abrasion resistant. Polyester in nature is quick drying and excellent for the harshest climates. Mat is easily cleaned by vacuuming and is machine washable. Approximately 1/2" thick. 2' x 3'. Blue.
